08:22 AM ET 09.28 | Congratulations are in order for Johnathan Gray. [Gray] is now qualified to take a bigger role in the Longhorns' offense, running backs coach Major Applewhite said. Texas' blue-chip freshman has 21 carries through three games, 16 fewer than sophomores Joe Bergeron and Malcolm Brown. Gray's workload has increased -- slightly -- with each game, from five to seven to nine. "I think it's a developmental process, and I think he's there," Applewhite said. ... "I saw him lower his shoulder against New Mexico and run the ball with a little bit of power off of left tackle. Then I see him get in there against a faster, stronger Ole Miss team and now he's hitting the holes, coming out of tackles (with) foot quickness, speed burst."

Yeah they've given him some boring carries mostly into the teeth of the D line like some fullback. I'm waiting for a good off-tackle call,
