03:58 AM ET 09.29 | You'd think a guy named Homer would either stay in Springfield or stay off the pitchers mound. But there was anything but homers given up by Reds pitcher Homer Bailey on Friday, as he pitched his way to the 15th no-hitter in Cincinnati Reds and helped tie a modern MLB record for no-hitters thrown in a single season.

QUOTE(#2):

Not sure that Bailey will be in the rotation for the playoffs though. Yes, the Reds should be considered the NL favorites.

You have to figure they'll take four starters. I'd take Bailey over Leake any day. A rotation of Cueto, Latos, Arroyo and Bailey would be scary good in the playoffs.

Thanks to MLB network for cutting in on the ninth inning to watch this event. I was at Tiger stadium when Nolan Ryan pitched one against the Tigers in the early 70s and even the crowd wanted to see it in the ninth.

Only question was the error ruling on that shot at 3rd early in the game. Other than that - Kudos for a well pitched game.

Better than the ump error that cost a no-hitter last year.

That's all the Reds need--another pitcher peaking just in time for the playoffs

Considering this is T&R, this leans more towards rumor in my opinion.

The Nats should be able to take them...........mabey

Nats went 5-2 against the Reds earlier this season. the Reds had a lot of question marks that have since been answered.

It is to bad for the Bucs that MLB doesn't shortened the season to 120 games if so they would be in the playoffs every year.
