Bucks reject Knicks trade offer

The truth is, contrary to Isiah Thomas' denial when word got out, Knicks GM Glen Grunwald initiated a trade call last week to Bucks GM Larry Harris in an effort to trade Zach Randolph. As far as I can determine, the word got out when Harris called his Trail Blazers counterpart, Kevin Pritchard, to check out Randolph, whom the Knicks acquired from Portland last June on draft night, and someone in their organization leaked it to a reporter for The Oregonian. By that time, the Bucks had summarily rejected the Knicks' proposal: Randolph and Renaldo Balkman for Charlie Villanueva, Bobby Simmons and Dan Gadzuric.

Easy down there, they'll move Randolph and Balkman?
Milwaukee must be asking too much by rejecting these 2.

January 15, 2008  08:47 AM ET

The Bucks should have taken that trade. It would have balanced out their team for sure

January 15, 2008  08:52 AM ET

Actually the Bucks should have taken that trade. Not a fan of Zach Randolph but by unloading Villanueva it would have solved the Villanueva/Yi problem and get rid of two bad contracts in Simmons and Gadzuric at the same time.

Unless the Bucks are holding out for David Lee they should have taken that deal.

Although, I like Villanueva I think he would be a terrible fit alongside Curry. The Knicks need to get rid of Eddy too, and get a defensive minded big man.

As the day goes on. You are going to here from every Knicks, Marbury and Isiah hater in the world about this proposed trade. Randolph like every Knicks is expendable.

However, pay attention, the numbers don't match. This is a wasted story.
go to espn and play GM, the numbers don't match.

I could, I could see the deal from both teams. Mil get a low post scorer knicks get better defense from the low post, if curry goes back to the 4 where he belongs.

Not sure if I like it but something needs to be done!!!!!!
Back to my point the numbers don't match.

Curry needs to go the four...Gate 4 at whatever terminal at LaGuardia that will send his sorry self out the door.

I'm was iffy on this trade, but with the Bucks getting rid of Gadzuric, then I say the Bucks should have done it.

The trade as stated is not doable, but it works if you throw in Jared Jefferies contract. Truth be told, I think this trade was a complete media fabrication. There is no way Isiah would trade for someone that's as bad as Q-Rich (Simmons) and makes more money. I don't believe the Knicks will take themselves out of the running for Artest for the likes of Bobby Simmons. I have pull out my B.S card for this thread.

January 15, 2008  09:42 AM ET

I stand corrected, the deal as stated in the article works.

January 15, 2008  09:57 AM ET

If you read between the lines, the Bucks spoke with the Blazers and Pritchard told them "Slack" Randolph was a waste of time--that it made no sense to take on a one way, no defense playin', lazy miscreant. What a waste.

January 15, 2008  09:57 AM ET

The deal should work; Bucks should have taken the deal. Not sure why they rejected it. Maybe Zach is a locker room killer, that's why

January 15, 2008  10:24 AM ET

Zach has quite possibly the worst contract in the NBA at $61 million through 2011.

The Bucks would be Isiah crazy to take on his contract.

January 15, 2008  10:41 AM ET

This is surprising news, right? Wrong. No one is going to take on any of Isiah's blundered acquisitions.

January 15, 2008  10:47 AM ET

send zach crawford and balkman to chicago for wallace gordon and duhon

January 15, 2008  10:50 AM ET

zach gives chicago the low post scoring crawford is the big scoring guard they need and balkman fits the mold of the their style of play. wallace wont be in curry's way scoring wise, gordon's contract comes off and duhon is the steady point they need everyone wins bulls would give teams fits defensively with balkman hinrich ty thomas sefalosha and noah

If I was the Knicks I would jump on Va's finest proposal. I'm not sure if it works out salary wise but it would be great for both teams.

The problem is it makes too much sense and that's why Isiah hasn't thought of it. Also, not so sure that Paxson would want Crawford back.

January 15, 2008  12:04 PM ET

Doesn't matter what the Knicks offer this team or any other. I expect most every offer to be rejected. No one wants the Knicks players for the $$ they are making.

They are all overpaid and they have shown how well they play as a team.

And I am laughing at Liontut's comment about "Curry going back to the 4, where he belongs". You spelled "bench" wrong.

January 15, 2008  12:09 PM ET

yer i would jump on vas to but no way would the bulls make that trade

January 15, 2008  12:12 PM ET

Amendment to va's trade. Throw in Noah for a future pick. (even if its 2nd rd)
Thanks
