08:52 AM ET 09.29 | Scott Gomez has agreed to a professional tryout with the ECHL Alaska Aces, but it looks like that's as far as his involvement with the team will go this season. "I'm 100 percent not playing here (during lockout)," Gomez told the Montreal Gazette's Dave Stubbs. Gomez said that he's "just staying in shape." Gomez was born in Anchorage, Alaska and decided to spend the 2004-05 lockout with the ECHL club. He had 86 points in 61 games that season and was named the league's MVP.

He's going home .... where he belongs! I only wish he would've signed to work on a 'Deadliest Catch' boat.

The Alaska Aces can keep him for all I cared. Why Bergevin hasn't dumped this clown yet truly escapes me and makes me wonder about the new GM's hockey sense. I mean, hiring that retread Therrien and keeping Gomez? Not what I would call winner moves there, Marc.

With his scoring prowess, I'm surprised he even got an ECHL tryout!

Probably the ECHL couldn't match the contract he has in Montreal.................... or the ECHL wanted a clause that said he had to earn his money

I expect he has knowledge that there will be an amnesty clause similar to the NBA and when the CBA is signed goodbye Scott Gomez

A guy born in Alaska playing for the Aces might bring their attendance up from the 4500 that usually see them I was surprised to find out that 7 players born in Anchorage play in the NHL
