09:38 AM ET 09.30 | Charles Barkley sees big things happening in New York this season. On the other side of the East River. The TNT analyst and Hall Of Famer dubbed the Brooklyn Nets "the best team in New York," and predicts another frustrating year for the Carmelo Anthony-Amare Stoudemire experiment. "It's not going to work, and it's not going to click," Barkley said of the All-Star pairing. "I'm not a believer that a leopard can change its spots."

QUOTE(#2):

I think the nyets will have a real nice yearand if healthy, NY should be better than last yearwould not be surprised if they face each other in the playoffs as the 4-5 seeds

NY will at best be second round material because of Carmelo Anthony. His style is not conducive to cohesion and team play. For once I will have to agree with Barkely on this one. Dolan made a huge mistake in trading for him. He made the mistake worse by not trading him for Deron Williams when he could be had...

Knicks have not been a team since Melo got there. Look what STAT did with the scrubs when Melo was in Denver. Look what Lin did with the team when Melo was out. This season is toast. If Phil Jackson and Karl have called Melo's game out. D'Antoni couldn't figure it out either.

I've been watching reruns of the Olympics with emphasis on Melo on both sides of the court. He's horrendous on defense and kills chemistry on the offense... Now that we have some proven veterans hopefully they'll speak up about Melo's game.

We'll have a decent year if Melo can tone down his selfishness and play team ball with defensive commitment.. if not we probably won't even make the playoffs...

I can't say who's better until I watch them play. Knicks have a new focus and determined to play as a TEAM, and the Nets R resurging and inspired by their new home. They also got players that will elevate their game and if healthy they can be a top 5 in the East. This will be the best rivalry in the NBA so lets enjoy this.

Barkley has done some good analysis, but on this one, really need to wait and see. So many variables last year (shorter season, new coach, injury to Amare, unstable pg situation) to say that the chemistry isn't there.

The more I think about it, the more Kidd looks like a great pickup. Veteran leadership at the guard position that can get things straightened out in the front-court. He could have a very good year and so could the Knicks.

Say what you want, but Charles Barkley is a smart guy who tells it like it is.
