09:44 AM ET 09.30 | Five months after back surgery, All-Star center Dwight Howard has targeted his Los Angeles Lakers debut for opening night of the 2012-13 season, league sources told Yahoo! Sports. Howard is determined to play against the Dallas Mavericks on Oct. 30 at Staples Center, and his progress in recent weeks has strengthened the possibility, sources said. Why shouldn't he???? LOL.

QUOTE(#3):

Howard at 85% is still the best center in the league. Of course, the league is weak at center during this era.

The centers of today from top to bottom are just as good as the centers of the 70/80/90s. I'm talking about "True" centers, not a Power forward who can fill in at center!!!

It will be a mistake to rush Howard back Hes coming from a serious injury that can affect his game for the rest of his career. Let him recover and get back to a 100% to make sure U have a healthy center for this season and beyond.

Ridiculous. That's all that needs to be said about your comment.

If you think my comment is ridiculous, then let's talk!!!! Name me a few "true" centers from the 70/80/90s. Today you have Howard, Bynum, Jordan, McGee, Gortat, Hibbert, Monroe and Chandler.

Wilt, Kareem, Hakeem, Ewing, Robinson, Duncan, Shaq, Parish, Sampson, Smits, Mourning, etc.ALL better than the centers that you list - except for Howard, and maybe Bynum if Bynum can put together a few consistent seasons.

Good list, but Duncan is/was not ever a "True" center and Wilt barely played in the 70's. Smits was a decent center, but no better than Jordan or Hibbert.

Duncan as a center would be the #2 center in the league today - even though he doesn't play that position all the time. That goes to show how weak the position has become.Wilt played enough in the 70's to be considered.

Yeah, but again Duncan is not center. I can add quite a few F/C to my list, but I was talking about only "True" centers. The Gasol brothers and Al Jefferson are a few F/C, that can play both positions.
