10:42 AM ET 09.30 | A surprise choice a year ago to manage the Sox, Robin Ventura has received high marks for his first season on the job. Ventura restored peace and calm in the organization and kept a team that wasn't picked to win in first place for 117 days. An even bigger stunner than Ventura's hiring would be his going "one-and-done" and not returning after this season with two left on his contract. Ventura has just the kind of California demeanor to return to the normal family life he was enjoying as long as chairman Jerry Reinsdorf gave his blessing. But contrary to recent rumblings that such a scenario could unfold, Ventura told the Sun-Times on Saturday that he wants to return.

The Sun-Times reporter asked Ventura if he wanted to manage as long as Walter Alston or Tommy Lasorda, and he said "no." (Lasorda managed for 20 years and Alston for 23 years.) From that the idiot reporter decided that Ventura was going to quit and go home at the end of the season. What an idiot.

So, if he already said that he wants to return then what is the point of wondering whether he will? What a wasted journalistic exercise.

wiseup: Ventura Desrves to return in 2013. The Whitesox finished in third place last year. They let Guillen go and hired Ventura. He had the Whitesox in first place most of year. Detroit played better in sept and overtook Chisox. It appears, barring some miracle theChisox willbe on outside looking in on TV. If Whitesox fire Ventura they deserve to get guillen back.

wiseup: Why would Ventura want work for 20 years all under 1 year contracts like alston or bleed whitesox black like La Sorda? Ventura i'm syre could care less about Dodgers Mgrs. Ventura is only concerned about HIS career with White Sox.

Not4Nutten But, Walter Alston was the highest paid manager in Baseball during his run and he could leave at any time, not a bad Gig, wiseup!
