Rondo's attitude costing MVP votes?

08:09 AM ET 10.01 | Ex-Celtic Brian Scalabrine took the occasion of a television appearance in Boston to talk about whether Rajon Rondo has become the leader of the Celtics. Scalabrine said the Celtics have been Rondo's team since after they won the championship in 2008. "Paul Pierce will still get the ball [in big spots], but he'll get it because Rondo will make sure or Doc Rivers will make sure he does," Scalabrine said. The former NBA veteran forward said Rondo has an intelligence for the game and the ability to know what is needed for his teammates that is unlike any player he's ever played with. The Celtics mercurial point guard will get a few MVP votes if he improves his relationship with the media, Scalabrine said.

He'll only get MVP votes if he improves his FT and jumpshot prowless. Kareem won a many MVP and he certainly was preceived to have an attitude by the media. No, the ft's and jumpshot is a must in the case of Rondo!

Rondo has improved every year if you ask me and he will be in the MVP talk but I dont see him winning.

Rondo is not close to MVP level yet

Any team not the Clippers, Bulls, Nets, Lakers would want him on their team.... Enough said. Cleveland may be the only other team who wouldnt trade their pg. Kyrie will be the top PG if he stays w/ them or elsewhere....

If Im the Lakers and at this juncture of their career I would take Rondo over Nash. Rondo runs an offence as efficient as Nash and is a much better Defender and Rebounder. Yeah he is missing in the Jump Shot area but he has improved.

Rondo is probably a top 3 point guard. I'd take him over any pg not named Rose or D. Williams. With that said, the only way he can win MVP is if he leads the Celtics to the top record in the East. Jumpshot, free throw %, attitude with media...none of that will matter if the Celtics win 60 games and beat the Heat, Rondo would have an excellent chance at winning it.

Hopefully Rondo doesn't give a damn about the media...

He can win it this year if he puts his team over the top. He has been mentioned last year so this year could be a step up if he is healthy and continues to be an impact player at both ends of the court while winning.

MVP doesn't necessarily mean the guy who has a jump shot or makes a lot of three pointers; that may gain votes for best point guard.
But MVP means the most valuable player for his team, and if the Celts make it to the finals, never mind win, and Rondo is seen to be the spark for the team that gets them there, then he has a strong shot at MVP, expecially if he tries to play nice with the media this season.

Let's not forget that having Allen, Garnett and Pierce on the wings have help make Rondo look good. Take them away, or give him players that weren't as good as those three and let see how good he really is.

IDK about that...the guy makes everyone better, period. He doesnt have to score to dominate the game (rare in today's game) and he is a great defender. If Steve Nash can win back to back MVPs while playing ZERO defense...why cant Rondo be a contender? He has proven he can score when he wants to and puts up triple doubles like they're going outta style....thats an MVP candidate all day

I was one of them and I stand corrected... you know you can't have it all.. with all his zeal and talent some of the screws had to be loose up there. Perhaps the best thing Rondo did for Boston is forcing Ray outta town. Courtney Lee will compliment Pierce and KG better...
