Injured Gophers QB may lose starting job

08:20 AM ET 10.01 | Minnesota head coach Jerry Kill made it abundantly clear -- to the point of mentioning repeatedly in a nine-minute postgame appearance after losing at Iowa -- that the Gophers are a young team. Who could blame anyone for thinking, 'let's hurry up and get to the future'? And while Max Shortell was only so-so on Saturday, I'm starting to hear a lot of people wonder if the Gophers are better off turning over the offense to him. That's no offense to [injured MarQueis Gray], and it certainly doesn't reflect the coaches' thinking. ... But Shortell has clearly, definitively improved since last season, and if that improvement continues at this pace, he may be turning into a good, steady Big Ten quarterback.

I care. The Legends Division already is deeper than the Leaders. We do not need our door mat team becoming good enough to pull off upsets.
