Kreider sings music to Tortorella's ears

08:25 AM ET 10.01 | Add Chris Kreider to a list of young guns teams are hoping will benefit from the lockout while in the AHL. Based on last year's playoffs, Kreider knows he has to work on his understanding of the Rangers' system, particularly defensively, and improve to give John Tortorella more reasons to keep him on the ice. For example, after an early September Rangers skate, Kreider asked Boyle in the locker room to teach him how to take faceoffs effectively. "You can't kill penalties unless you take faceoffs," Kreider said Sunday, before adding with a laugh: "You have to be able to block shots, too, which is something I'm not really good at ... But being able to take draws, it's a useful skill to have if the center gets kicked (out of the circle)."

I've missed that picture so much. Where Torts asks the ref "he only got 2 minutes for that?"

Torts will kill this kids offensive creativity in less than two years.

Can anyone tell me when the last great shot blocking team won a Stanley Cup?

Torts will adapt his style this year to the team he has.

The rest of us know Kreider has to work on his understanding. Period.

You would think he'd ask on the ice. He should do what Kris Draper used to do, if he didn't win it he would reach down and flip it to a teammate.
