09:30 AM ET 10.01 | There is some sad news to report this morning from the NFL world. The Indianapolis Colts will be without their head coach for their upcoming game against the Green Bay Packers and likely many more. It is being reported this morning that Chuck Pagano will miss several games with what is being called a "serious" illness. Per ESPN, Pagano has been diagnosed with leukemia. The Colts will hold a press conference this morning to deliver more information on Pagano's situation. During the press conference, the team will introduce Pagano's doctor and provide more specifics on the situation. The Colts head coach underwent blood tests during the team's bye week after feeling unusual fatigue. With Pagano out for at least a few weeks, offensive coordinator Bruce Arians will take over as the team's interim head coach.

I hope something can be done to help him. News like this always emphasizes that there is a lot more important stuff than just pro sports.

Damn that sucks. You can beat it, man. We're pulling for you.

Keeping you in our prayers, coach.

(BTW, any word on which kind of leukemia? Some types respond better to different treatments than others [C/R Kareem Abdul-Jabaar]. It might be too early to know, or maybe they just want to keep it private.)

I just heard (local station) that it is a treatable form... but having just went through my wife's treatable breast cancer "experience" (and - still going through the recovery phase), it's not like they will just give him a pill and send him on his way.

Hope all goes well with him.

Thanks, Otis. I'd heard the "treatable" part, did some digging and saw one report of acute promyelocytic leukemia, which is treatable in a unique kind of way.

It's a disease that hits close to home; I lost my second wife to CML leukemia 10 years ago.

The good thing about this site... the experiences of others can be beneficial to those of us needing education. The tough thing about this site... the experiences of others teach us that we have a lot to learn.

Sorry about your wife, my friend. It is a reminder that as bad as things can get (like the last 6+ months with my wife), things can be significantly worse in life.

I'd heard treatable as well. But, as other's have said, it's going to be a tough road ahead. Regardless of what team you root for, we should all be rooting for Pagano.
