James Harden thinks new deal will get done before Oct. 31

03:52 PM ET 10.01 | It's media day for most NBA teams today including the Oklahoma City Thunder. The No. 1 storyline going into this coming season for the Thunder is James Harden and his contract situation. The Thunder have until Oct. 31 to sign Harden to an extension, otherwise he will become a restricted free agent after the season, thus allowing for the rest of the league to determine his value (which will be a max contract). Once the Thunder extended Serge Ibaka earlier this summer, the ability to also extend Harden seemed like it would be very tough to do. Harden was asked if he thought he would sign an extension with the Thunder before Oct. 31 at media day today and he simply replied, "Yeah." Harden went on to say that he is willing to "sacrifice" to stay in OKC and would accept less than a maximum contract.

Not sure if Im willing to give this dude big cash. If he is not willing to accept 10 mill then Im trading this dude. They can get good value for him.

QUOTE(#5):

I agree he's not a 10+ more player......But the only think okc is weak at is an inside offensive playerMaybe they can flip him and perk for big al?

Now that is not a bad idea. They lose something defensively but gain a true offensive post player. Plus I think Perry Jones is going to give them a little something off the bench this year.

Good morning all. I think Harden will sign with OKC before the deadline. He has been consistant with his statements...he is willing to take less money to stay in OKC. We shall see.

He's young enough to get one more good contract after this one; He'll be fine if he takes less $ to stay in OKC!
