08:07 AM ET 10.02 | Kobe Bryant, at the time overseas for the Olympics, made his point to Dwight Howard over the phone. The terms are pretty simple: For at least the next two seasons -- the years remaining on Bryant's current contract -- or for however many seasons he decides to keep playing, the Lakers are Bryant's team. After that, he will gracefully hand off the NBA's most glamorous franchise to Howard. "I got a question earlier about whose team this is," Bryant said Monday. ... "I don't want to get into the, 'Well, we share ...' No, it's my team. But I want to make sure that Dwight, when I retire, this is going to be his. I want to teach him everything I possibly know so that when I step away, this organization will ride on as if I never left."

It depends which Howard shows up! Clark Kent is a mild manner person that gets along with everyone. Superman wants to control the show.

Well that is a no brainer but Kobe doesn't need to explain that to the media.

Exactly. I'm pretty sure Dwight understands the hierarchy of the team and that he is ok with it.

Kobe should stay quiet on this. No need to say publicly what everybody already knows.

And if Howard thinks otherwise?

October 2, 2012  09:03 AM ET

I think hes just setting the tone, because like the first year with the Heat.. Lebron played nice with the sharing deal and that doesnt work out. Someone has to lead. Kobe knows what it takes. He followed Shaq to his first Championships before he was able to lead. Same thing here... Dwight has to learn.

Kobe wasnt the most dominate player in the Olympics, but Im sure he help set the tone in the locker room.. To prepare the team to attack with a killer instinct and get the job done. All that laughing and joking nonsense Howard was about will change and I think we might see a more focused and improved Dwight which could be scary for the rest of the league.
