08:08 AM ET 10.02 | It may have seemed to Norris Cole as if there was no offseason. Eight days after the Miami Heat won the NBA title, Cole was in the gym working out twice daily. A strong dedication to improving is why Cole has been one of the early surprises of training camp. "He's been one of the highlights of the camp so far just in terms of how much he's improved," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. "He's arguably the most improved player right now. It shouldn't be a surprise to any one of us. ... Spoelstra said he challenged Cole to improve his shooting and play-making ability. That was the reasoning behind Cole traveling with the team to Las Vegas for the NBA Summer League, an event usually reserved for rookies and journeymen.

Cole should improve no doubt, I expect him to improve his shooting and lower his turnovers per game...
If there is any heat player needing to improve it's Pittman, it's do or die for that young man...

He will take Chalmers minutes if he is as improved as they are saying. If his shot is improved and he has learned to play a little more under control, he is likely already better than Chalmers right now.

Pittman is already on the "die" side of do or die.

There will be plenty of minutes to go around. Midway through the first quarter, Spoelstra likes to go to sit Bosh and Wade and go to a LeBron and co. lineup, followed by a Wade, Bosh and co. lineup about 4 mins into the second quarter. There will be enough time for Ray, Chalmers/Cole, Battier, Lewis and Miller.

If he has improved his game over the summer like this report says, he could be. I mean, Chalmers is just a decent player. He definitely deserves credit for the big shots he hits, but he is a turnover machine, fouls a lot, gets abused on defense and has bad shot selection. He isn't a true pg, either.

BJ Armstrong & Steve Kerr neither Paxon were true point guards, do people knock them?

BJ Armstrong, Steve Kerr and John Paxson were not turnover machines, who fouled a lot and had bad shot selection.
Chalmers not being a true pg isn't the only thing wrong with his game, but it might be the worst thing wrong with his game on this Miami team. His shot selection, many times, just makes you think that he doesn't really understand that he is playing with three of the best players in the NBA.

He takes open jumpers when either of the big 3 are doubled or drive and they kick out to him.
His job isn't even to shoot alot, he also lobs up alley oops to them, drives in the lane draws fouls more, steals, defends, sure he turns the ball over what 2.4 times per game... but he damn sure doesn't take bad shots, he is a bit streaky sure, but he is no Joe Johnson who never saw a shot he didn't like.
