Red Sox laying down?

08:16 AM ET 10.02 | Without injured Dustin Pedroia or Jacoby Ellsbury, the Red Sox lineup against the Yankees on Monday suggested that the team really was limping to the finish. "Ells hasn't played in a long time," said [Bobby Valentine], referencing another recent injury that was treated like classified material. "We've got the left-hander out there, a big outfield. He'll play the next two days, hopefully, if he's feeling good." Wow. Either the medical staff was being ultra-cautious or Valentine was telegraphing his own opinion about Ellsbury's durability and toughness because there is no way the Red Sox could say, with a straight face, they were trying to a) win [Monday] night's game in New York by b) putting out their best lineup.

It's pretty embarrassing to be a Red Sux fan these days.

Hell they had Jeremy Lin on loan from the Houston Rockets. He got 2 of their 4 hits.

Clem, are you surprised that neither Lester, nor Buccholz, have been unable to make a difference and are more part of the problem than the solution?

I hope there's a huge shake-up during the off-season, or else we won't be counting down the days to Spring Training next season.

Morning Kitty.

Show us what that shake up might look like.

Frankly, yes. I think both are still decent pitchers. I'm hoping some downtime and some better coaching will bring them back to form.

I'm guessing that we could pull 9 people off this website and field a better team than the Sox had out there last night.
