Dark days ahead for NHL as talks end with no progress

01:27 PM ET 10.02 | The NHL and NHLPA met for two hours Tuesday to discuss the the current lockout situation, focusing on hockey-related revenue. When it was first announced that the two sides were meeting, it sparked a glimmer of optimism from the fans, but now that has faded with dark days seemingly in the league's future. The bad news came straight from NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly when he told reporters how the meetings went, courtesy of TSN.ca. "No progress was made. Unless they show some willingness to compromise, I don't know how we get this done." Those are heavy words from the players' side, implying that the two sides are so far apart on the main issues at hand that watching NHL hockey this season is becoming doubtful. To make matters worse, it appears that the two sides have no intention of meeting again anytime soon since no future talks were planned.

Great

these **** clowns should agree "for one season, lets meet exactly half way between where both sides are at this exact moment in time.. lets meet again the day after the cup is awarded and keep hashing something out"

****, if you have to do it yearly, but assure the fans that the seasons won't be on the blocks each time, then DO IT FOR THE **** FANS!!!

Sounds like you're surprised. Did anyone really expect this to be settled in an intelligent fashion?

More likely, one of the interns looked at his watch instead of looking at the clock on the wall that says "Eastern Daylight Time".

Also, has anyone noticed how they compressed the picture to make the buttgoblin look taller? That said, I still find the image of him and Daly together depressing.

This is just awful. Bettman is no doubt the WORST commissioner of a professional sports league ever.

Hank are you watching Sons yet? Don't tip me ive missed the first few weeks and will burn it all for Saturday night relaxation time.

I gave up on the NHL last year. I think I may have watched one game. Bettman's strategy has ruined the sport. I still love hockey, but NOT the NHL, there's much better out there and thanks to the internet, we can watch it. If the NHL died off completely tomorrow, I would have no issue.

Hockey fans care about hockey, perhaps not the NHL though.
