08:35 AM ET 10.03 | One of the best players in the world appears close to deciding where he'll spend his lockout. But whether he signs with Avangard Omsk of the KHL or HC Kladno of the Czech Extraliga -- the two clubs reported to be closest to securing his services -- Claude Giroux thinks he'll wind up back in the NHL before the snow has come and gone. After refusing to offer his opinion on Wayne Gretzky's heart-felt belief that the NHL labour dispute will be resolved before Jan. 1, Giroux went on to indicate he shares a similar sentiment. "I do believe we're going to play this year, to be honest," the Philadelphia Flyers star said [Tuesday]. "The game is doing so well, to go into a lockout for a whole year, that wouldn't be very smart."

Would love to see season ticket holders make a 1 for 1 commitment; for every game that is lost, there will be one game played in an empty stadium.

That would be nice. I wish the fans had it in them for this kind of protest.
