08:56 AM ET 10.03 | Five months removed from back surgery, Dwight Howard is back -- sort of. [Howard] played in the Los Angeles Lakers' first practice of the season Tuesday without limitation, participating in the same set of drills and activities as his teammates. While Howard already has been ruled out of the Lakers' preseason opener Oct. 7, according to the team, the All-Star center said he wants to play in an exhibition or two before the regular season tips off Oct. 30. ... A source who witnessed Howard at the portion of practice that was closed to the media described Howard's level of play to ESPNLosAngeles.com as "unbelievable." "He was dunking everything in sight," the source said. "He looks like he can play in an NBA game today."

This is great, but not surprising in one outing with nobody leaning on him. I look "unbelievable" against 6th graders too, but that doesn't make me ready, nor durable enough for an entire NBA season.

Good point, this article is just trying to get us NBA fans riled up!!!!!

It's great to see Dwight practicing again, but be careful big Man U still needs time to recover don't rush anything. I think the Lakers can survive 3-4 weeks without him. It's a long season and with this roster at least they have a playoff spot all but secure if the rest of the core stay healthy.

Take it easy bro. Stay healthy and destroy the opponents.

Look Dwight is Dwight and everythink will be alright. Sick of hearin about a back is the sayin, Dwight will be ready, Man I ain't playin.

Kobe will be doin what he do, yeah wit pau and the resta da crew. While KD, RW r talkin bout how day r on, the Lakers wit Dwight will be takin the league by storm.

While the other suckas around the league r talkin bout how day ready to spar, Kobe's dead serious about gettin his last harrah! Bank on it!

For the rest of the league, I hope he rushes back. For the Lakers, I hope they don't rush him back too early. There's no sense playing early in the season and than be sidelined later because the injury didn't have time to heal...

Too much money invested on him. I doubt the Lakers will rush him back. He probably will sit the first weeks of the season unless he does look completely healthy and ready.

I think it should be an FN requirement that if you are going to post to a thread, at least one post needs to rhyme/rap. So, let's hear it folks and follow Apple's lead. Giddyup.
