Blues may lose prime year due to lockout

04:04 PM ET 10.03 | The St. Louis Blues could be the most adversely affected team if the NHL cancels the regular season. Being a top-three team in the NHL last season, it is reasonable to think that St. Louis would be in a similar, if not better, position heading into this year. They have a young, talented core of offensive players, a solid defense with an elite top pairing, two very solid goaltenders, and great veteran leadership. Surely to be in Stanley Cup contention, a missed season is a missed opportunity for the Blues. They have multiple top forwards - T.J. Oshie, David Perron - entering their primes, and veterans like David Backes and Andy McDonald at the top of their careers. The Blues are also trying to develop their young talent (Vladimir Tarasenko, Ty Rattie, etc.), and are losing both an opportunity to evaluate their crop of young players and to help the team gel with the new faces. One could argue that this potentially lost season could mean a lost chance at a Stanley Cup run for the Blues.

Agreed. In 2004, the Blues were an aging team that was starting into a decline. While the work stoppage that year, totally sucked, this one will hurt worse.

This one hurts....they are primed for another deep run in the post season. Also, what is the impact of losing John Davidson?
