The NFL has figured out Michael Vick

08:02 AM ET 10.04 | Steve McLendon believes there's a book on Michael Vick. The Steelers nose tackle sacked him with one hand in the preseason, and he's not surprised that the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback has been sacked 11 times and committed nine turnovers. "People have learned how to rush him," said McLendon, a preseason star who is splitting time with starting nose tackle Casey Hampton. "Vick's trying to stay in the pocket, he's trying to be the quarterback he's not. ... [And] I hope he keeps being that quarterback. We want him to sit in the pocket. As long as he's sitting in the pocket, we have a good chance to get to him and hit him. If we can hit him, get him frustrated a couple of times, we're going to be successful."

If a 320lb nose tackle needed more than one hand to sack a qb, I would be quite surpised

I like the idea of Troy's first game back from injury being littered with interceptions.

The Bucs started writing this book back when he played in Atlanta. They used players like Simeon Rice to pin him in so that he couldn't roll out and Vick was neutralized. Now it sounds like Andy Reid is making Vick stay in the pocket and effectively doing the same thing to him.
Oh, and weren't people complaining back in the day that McNabb developed this 'need' to stay in the pocket and stopped being a playmaking QB?

It's several things. The league has figured him out a bit, plus he's being asked to do things unnatural to him (stay in the pocket), plus he's not the athlete he was in Atlanta.

This is like saying the best way the neutralize a receiver is to not let him get behind the defense. Common sense. Putting a qb on his aaaaaz is how you stop ANY qb. Ask Brady about the Giants.
