Packers Pro-Bowl WR 'extremely frustrated'

08:03 AM ET 10.04 | Greg Jennings' injury timing is poor, but on Wednesday he tried to make something clear -- that his groin injury and his contract situation have nothing to do with each other. The Pro Bowl receiver is in the final year of his contract. He's looking for at least one more blockbuster deal, and there has been little or no progress on a deal with the Packers. It's possible he will hit the free-agent market in March. "Honestly, I'm not even focused on that," Jennings said. ... "I'm not concerned about the contract. You guys maybe, possibly, are thinking about it more than I am, honestly." That doesn't mean he's not frustrated. "Extremely frustrated, honestly," Jennings said.

Well, yeah, they have something to do with each other. If you're in the final year of your contract, the last thing you want is an injury that keeps you on the sidelines. It might, in fact, explain why he came back too soon and re-injured himself.

It is about money, and he is frustrated. Green Bay wasn't going to break the bank to keep him in the first place and an injury filled season just weakens his position further.

The Megatron deal still makes it very expensive to franchise a wide receiver. The Packers have enough other weapons that they may not to invest that much in one guy.

Maybe the Jets can get him as a down field blocker for Tebow's patented take the snap from the shot gun then run around the left end play.

Of course his injury has nothing to do with his contract situation. An injury hurts his negotiating power.
As said above, the Packers can do without him, and probably will.

what does that tell the rest of the guys?.....ha...he needs to get paid a fair contract....chemistry between qb's and receivers is not an easy thing to manufacture.

Tebow is doing a GREAT job this year!!! He is taking the focus off the terrible coaching at the Jets. He might even save Ryan's job for another year. I figure you need to keep playing Sanchez for at least three more weeks, more would be better. Then Put Tebow in against the Dolphins, and have the media frenzy kick into high gear for the bye week. Then switch between Quarterbacks for the second half of the season.

It's not that they're cheap-****. They spend plenty of money. But with guys like Matthews, Raji and the most important - Rodgers coming up, how do you justify spending $10M + on a WR when you have a lot of them and technically, he might be their 2nd best right now. Nelson only makes about $4M. Jones isn't as good as Jennings, but he's decent. So, if Jennings wants $12M/yr - take that and spread it out among the other 3 guys. It's not being cheap, it's being smart. Jennings isn't getting younger and he's had some injury issues the past 2 years.

NFL has a Salary Cap. Packers are always close to it. They're not Cheap, they just refuse to pay players more than what they feel they're worth. Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't (*sniff* Cullen Jenkins *sniff*).
But ZForce makes a great point: Matthews and Rodgers both have big paydays coming up. And if anyone is franchised, it's Finley (TE average is way lower than WR after Megatron's deal).
