08:16 AM ET 10.04 | Step right up, Chris Walker? Texas Tech is expected to decide in the coming days what to do with its head-coaching position this season. The official start of practice is Oct. 12. ... At this point, there doesn't appear to be a real decision. Of the natural candidates outside Texas Tech -- former Nebraska and UTEP coach and current Kansas director of basketball operations Doc Sadler and current North Texas assistant, former Arizona State and Ole Miss coach and onetime Tech assistant Rob Evans -- neither has been contacted about the job. ... The only choice appears to be Chris Walker, who has been low-key since he was named the day-to-day interim coach after Billy Gillispie resigned on Sept. 20.

Okay all you Lubbock guys (FJJ, JRM, SL Guido et al - c'mon you're all Texans) is this really an issue? Did they plan to have a new head coach before the season began, or is the interim in tryout mode this season?

Son, you better run! Run for the border.(the northern one). Those three you mentioned, plus et al, rate Lubbock about this much above B/CS, home of TAM aggies.

As far as basketball, about the only thing JRM says about it;

FIRE RICK BARNES
sometimes he throws in effin'

Rob Evans is a nice guy.....really hated him @ Ole Mess beating my Hogs, but liked him when he got to Fayetteville as an assistant.

Would love to see him get another shot.
