10:55 AM ET 10.04 | Danny Ferry is aware of what Josh Smith means to the Atlanta Hawks, and it doesn't seem that he is ready to just let him walk, but he's also not being overly cautious by pushing the envelope on a three-year extension. Ferry prefers to let the contract situation "be resolved next summer." Ferry said, "I've been clear that I value Josh as a player...he's worked hard this summer and I believe he is going to have a great season."

Bass, Melo, and a 1st. Bass, can start for them right now. Melo can be groomed to eventually start alongside Horford to make an intimidating frontcourt, and the first because everyone loves extra picks.

The Atl GM is named Ferry; NOT McHale who gave KG to Boston for virtually nothing. Taking into account the current Griz success vs. the Twolves depravity (that proves that Memphis made a better deal than McHales fire sale). ...If Danny were shameless like Kevin he would send Josh to the Cavs or Spurs nothing. Anyway, at one time it was rumored that the Hawks sought Pau for Smith. So the C's would likely have to give up Bass, Sully & a draft choice to get him.
