Peterson's bold claim

08:03 AM ET 10.05 | Only a few years ago, any discussion of the NFL's top running back focused on Adrian Peterson and Chris Johnson, a pair that will meet this weekend. If there's one thing [Peterson] doesn't like to do, it's talking about other running backs and how he thinks he compares to them. "That's for you guys to do," Peterson told reporters in the locker room [Thursday]. "I feel like I'm the best and I practice to be the best. So focusing on other guys is not going to help me." ... In 2009, when Johnson ran for 2,006 yards, Peterson was routinely asked whether he or Johnson was the best back in the league. Peterson didn't like that question three years ago, and he wasn't into comparing himself and Johnson [on Thursday].

At least for this game, I expect more from Peterson than Johnson

Peterson is by far the classier player. I'd like to see him return to being the dominant force he was. The Vikes have to keep winning, though. He won't get the chance if they're always behind.

I read this twice (and wasted precious time of my life in doing so), but I cannot find a "bold claim."

I think the bold claim was that there was an actual story attached to the headline.

Chris Johnson is maybe at the bottom of the top 10. Peterson is by far the superior player. Even right now not 100% he is the best in the game. I will rank Arian Foster 2 and LeSean McCoy 3....Now that Peterson is rounding into form and it looks like there offensive line is a lot better this year I expect to see 1500 out of Peterson this year followed by 1800 plus next year. He had a knock he couldnt pass block, he has worked on that and now has become a good blocker, his pass catching is good, not great but his running skills are miles ahead of anyone else. He is the most powerful hardest runner, breaks more tackles then anyone and is one of the fastest backs. He may not have the break away speed back to 100% yet but you can tell it will be back soon and when it is there will be frequent 150-200 rushing days!

With all the jerks and slackers in this league, it's nice to have a guy like Adrian Peterson that we all think highly of. It says a lot about the guy.

Not that bad, but a guy who holds out, gets the big contract he wants and then mails it in?
I'll take the guy who works hard to rehab an injury, shows up in shape, wants to play and hits the line like he wants to move the chains on every carry. That's Adrian Peterson.
