Just as the Rams are embarking on what seems to be a sudden and fascinating football renaissance, Jackson's role is being reduced. ... Jackson has spent his entire career toiling at a near Hall of Fame level on some of the worst teams in the NFL, almost like some gifted blues singer working in anonymity in some out-of-the-way juke joint. He has sacrificed his body, played in wretched systems, endured game after game and season after season of losing, and kept churning out 1,000-yard seasons with amazing regularity. And now, just as the Rams seem to be on the verge of becoming legitimate again, it looks like the franchise might be ready to let him end his career in another town with another team.
