Nowitzki blasts NBA

08:07 AM ET 10.05 | When it comes flopping, Dirk Nowitzki often finds himself as part of the conversation. He's not completely disagreeing with that, by the way. And it's why he's very much opposed to the new rule from the NBA that is going to start penalizing players who flop to try to get a referee to blow his whistle. "I never looked at myself as a big flopper," Nowitzki said Thursday after the Mavericks arrived in Germany. ... "If you play me physical then, obviously, I got to sell the call and get to the (free-throw) line. That's just part of the game. We'll have to see how they enforce that. I think it's a bunch of crap to be honest with you. Are they going to come back after a game and fine you for flopping? That's tough to do to me."

Dirk, of course players who flop are not going to like this call...stop trying to "sell the call" and play basketball. All I hear from this article is a little baby crying. Good Friday morning all.

No one gets Hammered in these soft times of the NBA. Those petty fouls and Dirk throws his hand up a falls backward would not have been called back in the day. Soft NBA. That said if you can get away with it why not do it.

When I played basketball in high school, I used that same move. On defense, you are taught to put your hands straight up...not out in front of a shooter. Until the rule was put in to limit the calls for this 'rip' move, it was a perfectly legal move. Unlike someone trying to get an oscar anytime they go up for a shot and not even get touched (Kobe video from yesterday).

Oh so now acting is part of the game.........I think Dirk is a tad bit misguided here. Frankly, I very pleased with the projected penalties in place and if the perrenial floppers are found to be doing this regularly, after league review, I think suspensions are warranted too. The game needs to be cleaned up from this fraudacy!

Idiot just outed himself. All the floppers are the ones whining about this rule. Blake Griffin and Dirk are two of the biggest floppers and anyone who watches NBA games knows this. His comment here comes as no surprise....

I don't have as big of a problem with selling a call as I do when players throw themselves around after hardly being touch. its even worse when there are phantom touches. Not to mention anyone who says a player today is being mugged need to go look back at when hand checking was allowed in the league. Basketball is a contact sport and if you can't create separation then maybe you don't belong. And if you are a top 10 player then most likely you are all ready getting more calls then you deserved.

While the NBA is entertainment it is not acting. Quit selling and whining and play ball. I disagree with the fines but they have to get this under control. I hope they start calling the traveling violations too.
