Boyle's bleak forecast: Nothing will happen for months

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman has a rule in place that he needs just eight of 30 votes to veto any CBA proposals that he doesn't himself approve of, while the NHLPA needs just a simple majority in order to ratify or reject one. ... [Dan Boyle] is not optimistic that anything will get done before more cancellations are made official, as each side has stated it's waiting for the other to make another proposal. "They say it's our turn, or whatever, but they don't want to negotiate until we start missing some checks," he said. "I don't see anything happening for the next couple months. I know that's very pessimistic of me, and I really hope I'm wrong. But the eight guys ..."

They probably only need 16 votes to fire him too. Article doesn't mean a whole lot, The Fehrless one will stay tough for awhile too I think. I don't see the league starting until after Thanksgiving at the very best. I think it's at least 50-50 the season won't start at all.
