08:22 AM ET 10.05 | It appears as if Taylor Hall, who all along preferred to play in the AHL during the lockout, will get his wish. Because Hall was still recovering from shoulder surgery and had not been cleared to play, the Oilers could not assign him to the AHL's Oklahoma City Barons by the Sept. 15 deadline. ... But last week, the AHL sent out a memo to its parent teams stipulating that players who do not require waivers can sign an AHL contract. If the lockout ended at mid-season, that contract would then be voided. ... So when Hall is cleared to play, which will be a few weeks from now, he can sign an AHL deal with the Barons. In the meantime, he'll continue skating and practising with the junior Edmonton Oil Kings of the Western Hockey League.

The AHL got pretty rough last lockout. Not sure this is the best move to prevent Hall from becoming a band-aid.

It wouldn't occur to them to rehab, instead they'll reinjure.
