Notre Dame coach denies quarterback rumors

09:39 AM ET 10.06 | Everett Golson has appeared before the media just once in the last month, working through what's described as a schedule so onerous that it's a challenge to eat properly. Then came Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly's very off-cuff report of a "clicking" in Golson's shoulder. As all that bottlenecked with an offense moving in fits and starts, Golson completing less than 50 percent of his passes in his last two outings and the early hook against Michigan, the whispers mounted, justifiably or not: Was it possible Tommy Rees, not Golson, would start against Miami on Saturday? In a word: No. "Everett will start in Week 5, and we expect him to start in Week 6 and 7 and 8, and 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13," Kelly said Thursday after practice. "He is getting better. There's so much development that's takng place that's not on Saturdays. He's learning how to practice and communicate, he's getting other guys lined up."

QUOTE(#2):

If Golson can't put up big numbers against one of the worst defenses featured by a BCS conference school...yeesh. Paging Gunner Kiel...

Could still be an interesting game, tho.

There will be no week 13 for you

Irish are gonna roll on this one. I have faith in Golson. He's the starter for the rest of the season, and he's going to get better. He'll put up the numbers. He just needed a little time.

Its a brisk day here in Omaha, I'm sure Chicago will be a bit nipplely for the Cains tonight.

Talented young man with very little CFB game experience.
He's learning on the job, and will get better as he gains experience.
He has to to get ready for some more competitive teams ahead on the schedule.
Interesting question; if he does have a serious injury, will BK go with Rees indefinitely, or will he begin to phase in Hendrix as well? I don't see him burning Keil's redshirt status unless he runs out of QBs.

@NDSideline: Notre Dame qb Tommy Rees will start tonight against Miami. Everett Golson benched after a violation of team rules.

2 came on the first drive so only 1 would count. Congrats they'd only be losing 34-17.
