Miami upset by Shawn Eichorst's Nebraska move

08:28 AM ET 10.07 | Miami people are fuming about Shawn Eichorst leaving after less than 18 months -- more so than after the departure of Kirby Hocutt, whose his wife wasn't happy here, according to friends. Hocutt was more well-liked than Eichorst by UM people; Eichorst's aloofness rubbed many the wrong the way. But UM people thought Eichorst would be in it for the long haul and were caught off guard by the fact he even interviewed at Nebraska a month ago.

Maybe the guy likes snow, ice and corn more than sun, sand, and bikini-clad chickies?

Look, Nebraska is a dream job for an AD. No geographic competition. 20 years of sell-outs in football. Big 10 Network money. State-supported school. Great reputation for athletic ethics. University of Miami: Competing against two national programs in your own state, plus rising Central Florida/South Florida programs, horrible fan base, no sellouts in many, many years and tens of thousands of fans coming disguised as empty seats. Private school, constantly scrounging for donations. Horrible reputation for athletic ethics. Guys, this was a no brainer.

Nice first quote...welcome to FN.
Dealing with the questionable legacy at the U and trying to change it would definitely be a monumental chore. The U needs their version of Pat Hayden at USC. Someone from their flock and beyond reproach.

I've got more bad news for you, "The Irish run over the Canes 41-3". Until we meet again, good luck in the ACC.

Don't think very many in Nebraska are real hot on the idea either. Perlman is a bone head and needs to go.

I was thinking the same thing; why stay at the U when a ton of hurt is coming down after the football season?
And to be offered the Nebraska job is a great opportunity, even if Miami wasn't going in the tank for the NCAA.

Depending on the severity of the NCAA penelties, don't be surprised if Al Golden leaves as well. His track record has got to be attractive for a program in need of a strong young coach.

Svt would be awesome, but id be afraid he wouldn't last 20 minutes -- the first time he called the University Prez "idiot", he'd be out the door.
