01:51 AM ET 10.08 | After fading during the second half of the 2012 season, the Pittsburgh Pirates should look to reload this offseason. Last year, they acquired A.J. Burnett and Erik Bedard and made a push for Edwin Jackson. This offseason, one name they may look to go after is Francisco Liriano who fits a lot of what the club is looking for with his mix of experience and upside.

I think Liriano is Jhonny Peralta's long-lost twin.

See what I did there?

As long as the Sox aren't targeting this guy, it's all good.

Would have been good - but Peralta never played for the Twins, even in the Minors...

Anyway... The Pirates are on the cusp of being an over .500 team (for the 1st time in a Generation).

Not sure Liriano is get them over the hump.

The Pirates do not need Liriano. They got Wandy Rodriguez from the Astros, and a rotation led by Wandy-Burnett-McDonald is okay. They have young pitching on the way.

They need a bat. If they could trade for a guy such as Justin Upton, then they'd probably be in business.

wiseup: The pitates rotation is even better If Charlie Morton is and stays healthy. They could improve the left side of their infield. Barmes is a weak link in the lineup. Kedro Alvarez is very streaky. he will hit .200 one month another month .240 or .250. Then he will be back at .200.

Another bat would be nice bot sure I want it to he Upton though or who the Pirates should trade to get one. They definately need to hold on to all their young and up comming pitchers.

Why would the Bucs pay big money for a below 500 career pitcher.

The guy is almost 29; at what point is "upside" finally recognized as "unattained potential"? He simply has not been consistently good since his Tommy John surgery.
