Pinkel courting QB controversy

08:18 AM ET 10.08 | The giddy anticipation that once gripped Columbia has given way to a more harsh reality Saturday -- when Missouri watched James Franklin go down before Corbin Berkstresser fell flat in relief against Vanderbilt. Losing to the Commodores at home? My gosh, that's almost a sure sign of an impending Apocalypse. ... And while I doubt the coach will ever be so bold, I wonder how long it will be before Pinkel gives serious thoughts to going with his highly-touted freshman quarterback Maty Mauk in an effort to jump-start this stagnant offense. On Saturday night, Pinkel said he never considered putting Mauk into the game. But he stopped just short of saying he wouldn't consider it over the next few weeks if Franklin is out for a significant length of time.

Silly me. I predicted that Mizzou and Aggie would finish about the same place in SEC conference rankings as they did in the Big 12...middle of the pack...no better or worse. (Mizzou 5th and Aggie 7th in 2011 out of 10 teams)

I guess I have to revise that since Mizzou is last in the east and Aggie is third in the mighty west.

What say the rest of you?

I'm a little surprised by Mizzou but actually thought A&M would compete so not really surprised by them.

Can we get a refund on Missouri?

I'm surprised no one has mentioned how the REC keeps getting these teams' QBs out of the game right before they play Alabama.

Section 3, Article 1, paragraph 4 in "The SEC Cheater's Handbook and Pick'em Losah's Survival Guide" expressly prohibits discussion of activities which certain shady organizations semi-loosely-but-not-really-associated with league schools may engage in from time to time.

In their inaugural seasons as members of the SEC, Mizzou is 0-3 in conference, and 3-3 overall (Though I do not discount the loss of Franklin's impact upon the outcome vs Vandy). TAMU is 2-1 in conference and 4-1 overall. To date, the performance is contrary to preseason expectations.
