12:58 PM ET 10.08 | Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Aaron Murray is not only dealing with his team's Saturday loss to South Carolina, he's also been hit with the news that his father has been diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Murray tweeted Sunday that he'd been going through "probably the worst 12 hours" of his life. Murray's father, Denny, is undergoing cancer surgery at Tampa's Moffit Cancer Center on Monday. Aaron Murray drove to Tampa with his brother on Sunday, and on Monday he voiced confidence in his father's recovery, calling Denny the strongest man he knows. On top of that, he returned to Athens after the loss to find his rented home had been egged and rolled with toilet paper.

I cant imagine how terrible that news would be to get. Football is meaningless in times like that. I bet the UGA "fans" who egged his house after the SCe game feel pretty crappy right about now.

Good luck to his father and family and pray for a recovery.

I thought the same thing when I saw this headline.

Good luck to the Murray family and Denny Murray. Cancer sucks. We always pay lip service to how this kid of news transcends things like football, but when it is your family, you stop thinking about anything else.

It says more about the egger than it does the eggee. Good luck

BEST Wishes to the Murray family as they cope with this sad news. Hope his Dad has a speedy recovery.

Fans can certainly be classless at times. We see it time and time again. Unfortunately, most teams have a few of these fans. :-/

Unfortunately, 'fan' is short for 'fanatic'.

Times like this makes you realize that football is just a game. Family is all that matters. Best wishes to him and his family.
