Rodriguez denies shredding files

Posted: Wednesday January 16, 2008 05:44AM ET

Rich Rodriguez's representative last night denied reports that certain documents were missing from the West Virginia athletic department, where officials launched an investigation into computer files Rodriguez supposedly shredded or destroyed while emptying his office before leaving for Michigan. Both newspapers in Charleston, W.Va., the Gazette and Daily Mail, reported yesterday that Rodriguez cleaned out files relating to the former coach's seven years with the Mountaineers, including information on summer camps, recruiting, scholarships, player classroom and weight-room performances, player contact information and booster data. The staff has been unable to locate the information since returning from the Fiesta Bowl.

Will WVU ever get over the fact that this guy left town? I'm not sure...

Report Offensive Comment

WVU has gone public with every piece of dirt they can find on this guy. The guy that could do no wrong just a month ago is the guy that can do no right. In a day or two they will probably be able to dig up an unpaid campus parking ticket, and go to the public media with it, instead of handling it like gentlemen, just like they did with this, the lawsuit, the death threats...

Report Offensive Comment

Don't bet your last dollar that these files have been shredded. They've only been reported missing with an almost 15 day window for someone to have removed them. I think we've got ourselves a "Who done it!"

Report Offensive Comment

so he flirts with alabama, supposedly accepts the job, then goes back to WVU with a higher contract, then WVU is rewarded by him skipping out the very next year before their bowl game, after he blew the PItt game, then he takes players files. His recruits always seem to be in trouble with the law, maybe WVU got a favor by him leaving, he doesnt seem to be that great a person.

I say If an investgation finds him guilty throw his but in jail cause thats wrong!!! Its football he shouldn't of messed with those players lives! They may not all BE PAT WHITE good but they all contribute and work hard on and off the field to suceed and but shreeding important paperwork like that hes messing with players who no more than 3 months ago would of layed it all out ther for him!!WHAT A ****!!!!!

I heard RR once went to the restroom and didnt wash his hands, I think that WVU should sue him for that too

According to the unbiased press, he shredded his personal copies of all these documents. WVU still has all their copies. If the new coach wants copies of all these documents, hire one of these WVU fans that don't seem to have anything better to do to Xerox for an afternoon...

More evidence of instituional chaos and ineptitude, doesnt WVU realize this reflects poorly on them, not RR?:

"He may have received copies," Brown said. "But I would sure hope the originals of those are in West Virginia's compliance office. If they do not have that information, they have serious institutional control issues."

"Every time Mike Barwis did any evaluation sessions, all of the assistant coaches got a copy of the report," Brown said. "So Bill Stewart and the other remaining coaches should have copies."

Will Michigan fans every get over the fact they always be the second best team in the worst BCS conference. Oh hey hows Beline working out for you guys? Enjoying the basketball season?

Report Offensive Comment

As soon as WVU learns proper grammar and spelling as well as how to files documents properly.

Belein is a teaching coach with a young team. The dividends will come, just wait...

Report Offensive Comment

Yes as we all know this forum is being graded by an English professor as we speak. Oh and since were on the whole grammar childish thing nice spelling your own basketball coaches name right. Oh and WVU has a young basketball team as well so throw that argument out the window.

Wow, its funny how bitter WVU fans are...

If life is so much better now without your old coaches, why are you wasting your time worrying about documents, buyout clauses, and threatening the life and well-being of their families?

WVU is seeking the 4 million dollars because its 4 FREAKIN MILLION DOLLARS thats not chump change. Life IS better with out our old coaches. I never liked Beline in the first place and we got a better coach because he left. And now that I see the true colors of RR I think WVU is better without him.

Also I am not the one threatening someones life nor do I condone that behavior its stupid and unnecessary along with the vandalism of his property.

Let me put this to you. Would you not be bitter if a great coach just left Michigan with out an explanation and then trashed the school and administration after he left.

The Michigan's, The Ohio State's, The USC, (insert other big schools here) will never understand because they have never had the feeling of being stepped on because for better or worse those are the places were everyone wants to go.

Actually, Michigan's basketball coach left abruptly in the late 80's for a job at Arizona right before the NCAA tournament that year. It happens to everybody. There is talk this year that Pete Caroll might leave USC for the Falcons job.
