Penn State LB Mauti unfairly left off of Lombardi list?

02:04 AM ET 10.09 | The quarter-finalists for the Lombardi Award were announced Monday, and Penn State linebacker Michael Mauti is the biggest snub left off the list. Four players in the Big Ten did make the list, however Michigan State's William Gholston, Ohio State's Johnathan Hankins, Purdue's Kawann Short and Wisconsin's Chris Borland are all on the list of 25. However, none of them have been named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week twice like Mauti has. Mauti currently is fourth in the Big Ten in tackles and second in interceptions, raising the question as to whether or not Penn State's off-the-field issues have affected the football team's on-field perception in 2012.

Who cares...UF #1....

Tough loss, the D-han clan on suicide watch w/ USC Jr coming to town. Les Timex loses 2 in a row and times will get rough for him down on the Bayou.....

WTFJJ is up w/ the QB play? Would have won that game w/ JJ. Not sure there's been a decent QB there since Mauck. With all the talent down there and Texas puking up QB's to every other school in a 500 mile radius, why can't LUS get a decent QB?

LMFAO, Florida wins a tough game and all of a sudden their #1. The Gators still have to play South Carolina, Georigia, (Louisiana-Lafayette, Jacksonville State, LOL.) and FSU and then maybe a SEC CG. I still don't think it's fair that Florida plays two weak OOC games right before playing FSU.

The QB threw a good pass, good gain, could have went ahead, fumbled it to the gators, not the QB fault there.

I agree, but look at the offense LUS has played since the NCG last year. Even if you have a great defense, you have to score some points & not try to win every quality game 10-3.

Gump last year, 9 points. NCG 0 points. Auburn 12 points, Florida this week. You have to have better QB play to win the BIG games.

My point, LUS looks physically gifted/dominant in every position on the field except QB...why?

I remember the first time I saw them play in LR in 1992. LUS's punter was as big as Arky's middle LB. They have awsome athletes all over the field....just don't understand why they can't get a stud QB.

on a bright note you guys may have gotten Chizik fired (or on the hot seat)

Saw a sign near campus yesterday...."The University of Arkansas...We may still suck, but we suck less than Auburn!!".

Gotta love that college outlook....
