08:15 AM ET 10.09 | The season isn't yet half over, but, to date, Cam Newton's 2012 campaign has sophomore slump written all over it. As Newton has struggled with five interceptions and crucial turnovers, a big reason for the Carolina Panthers' 1-4 start, the 2011 Offensive Rookie of the Year has been seen criticized for sulking on the sidelines and in postgame news conferences. The actions of a great leader? Hardly. Even Newton's own father believes his son needs to alter his demeanor after losses. "Is it something he needs to change?" Cecil Newton told WFNZ's The Drive with Taylor and March. "Well, yes, I guess so." Given that this is a father talking about his son, though, it's not like Cecil was overly critical.

Dad, you should have helped with the kid's attitude when he was young. Reality is a bugger.

I was about to say... a coddled kid is now a petulant kid.

Grow up, Cam.

I'm honestly disappointed in Cam so far this season... The attitude is more of a concern than the inconsistent numbers. To much "me", and not enough team. It even comes across in his new fancy espn comercial.

Bench him and put in good ole Derek Anderson. What's the worst that could happen?

October 9, 2012  08:36 AM ET

Didn't Cam's dad cause him a lot of trouble by trying to "manage" his career in college?

October 9, 2012  08:36 AM ET

He needs to show that he can handle adversity in order to become a team leader.

What? And give up all those years of experience holding the clipboard?

It would give Clausen a chance to step up and show what he can do as the starting clipboard holder.

Surely not a loss.

Indeed!, Cam needs to learn how to learn from losses and setbacks, and move forward, not pout like Sanchez...

Yup... all the more reason to keep him out of the picture.

Well, then how about a picture of Jen Sterger in a flimsy nightgown instead?

October 9, 2012  09:16 AM ET

Come on Debbie, there are plenty of half naked women in the column to the right. What's with this fasination with Sterger?

Yeah, he's the last guy who should be giving advice on character.

I saw his last pass....an altitude adjustment might be needed too.

To my knowledge, she's the only one who actually has been pictured as described in an FN thread.
