02:41 PM ET 10.09 | Days after an upset loss to Iowa State and more severely a DWI arrest, TCU starting quarterback Casey Pachall has "disenrolled" from the Texas school and will no longer be the Frogs starting quarterback. TCU head coach Gary Patterson announced at a press conference that effective immediately, Pachall would be dropping out and attending rehab for substance abuse following the star quarterback's October 4th arrest for drunk driving. Patterson did state, however, that should Pachall make improvements to his well being, the door is open for a 2013 return to school and football for the young man.

Hi, GTH. Don't know anything other than what I've read and have somewhat mixed feelings. The bottom line is that Pachall is gone...for this season and likely for good. He can come back in the spring IF his re-hab facility indicates that he's changed but I don't think anyone knows how that can go. What we've lost, at least for this season, is an NFL caliber talent in the making and what we're left with are two NCAA caliber quarterbacks with less experience. Ironically, last week both were being utilized for different positions to account for injuries. Most likely Trevone Boykin, a rs fr, will be the starter. He played the last half of the first game passing 8/8 and all of last Saturday's game going 23/40 I think, but with 3 interceptions. He is a better runner than Pachall so he adds a dimension to what we had before. I'd say he'll be pretty good in time.
All in all we won't have the team we thought we'd have this year and at this point of the season we may end up struggling to become bowl eligible but I'm not ready to write the rest of the schedule off and I think we'll surprise some folks who choose to write us off. The frogs are still a pretty good team....just maybe not great. That's what we'll have to wait and see.
