08:01 AM ET 10.10 | In a world of athletespeak and canned quotes, credit Kyle Williams for his honesty. [Williams] swept aside the just-another-game cliches Tuesday and acknowledged what nearly every 49ers player is feeling this week: A burning desire to avenge the championship-game loss to the Giants on Sunday. "After what happened last year I definitely want to get back at these guys," Williams said. "We look at it as if they have something that we should have had. We're going to make sure we don't leave anything on the field again." What Williams left on the field on Jan. 22, of course, was the football. ... He said he was conscious of being too eager for Sunday's rematch with New York. "I'm comfortable in the way I approach every single game," he said.

You can't avenge a Championship Game loss in Week 6.

Even if the 49ers win 100-0 it does not change last year. They lost , the Giants won it all and that is that. The 49ers were fortunate to be in the championship game last year, their previous game vs the Saints was quite the show. New year makes for a do over for everybody.

Exactly. Fumbles mattered in that game last year, but did they forget they were 1-13 on third down situations?

Hmmmm....are Giants fans trying to minimize expectations here? As if this game "doesn't really matter?"

No you can't. But I'll have a few cold ones ready and will be watching this game.

Ahhh - the other piece of the equation the Niners convienently omit from any discussion.

It's not about the last time they met in the playoffs.
It's about the next time they meet in the playoffs.

Maybe in Kyle Williams own mind he thinks that they can.

Regular season games are not where you need to extract revenge.....save it for the playoffs....

No, but if you're in the kind of denial that would allow you to forget 1 of 13 on third down, you could easily convince yourself that this is going to be the same intensity as a championship game.

Yeah, but you know as well as I that this is a Hairbag-bulletin board-motivating item. Nothing more, nothing less. Some guys might buy it, most guys won't.

It should be a good game. I'm giving the edge to the Niners.

Agreed. Home game for Niners who are better this year than last. Should be some highlights nonetheless.
