08:07 AM ET 10.10 | Part of a rookie's transition to the NBA in Boston includes an introduction to Kevin Garnett -- who may or may not remember his name. As the five Celtics rookies shared with CSNNE.com, first names are a rarity with the veteran leader. Fab Melo: "The Youngin. [He calls] everybody Youngin. Oh, and Melo. He calls me by my last name." ... Dionte Christmas: "He called me Temple (Christmas' alma mater, Temple University). It was cool, it was alright. I respect it." Jared Sullinger: "Youngin." Jamar Smith: "He calls me something different every day -- Young Fella, Youngin, 'A.' [He called me 'A' because] he thinks so fast, he's always talking." ... Kris Joseph: "Rook, Young Fella, Youngin, three names. I'm assuming he knows my name."

I know the people in Boston are just thrilled absolutely to death with this. I don't really see the need for a thread on what kG is callin rookies.

Byron Scott on another thread beached a Kid for not being focused and the posters are all over him. Yeah, the same Byron who won 3 NBA rings, and then you have KG winner of exactly 1 ring not callin rookies by their names and you have posters sayin "Yeah, if the Rooks listen, they'll learn somethin. Quite the lattitude being granted KG but little, very little for Byron.....hmmm!

I didn't qoute you, I used a generalization.......i.g. HOF'er, in the other thread by others, then in this post, "they have no choice but to listen, you can't ignore KG" by somma the same posters. Just one of many.

You attached yourself to my quote, not me!

probably b/c his success level has waned since becoming a coach. Yes, he did have success as a player, the last time was '87. Another thing, Byron was not the focal point in any of their championships. In other words the Lakers wouldve won who ever was the shoot guard was. He was also surrounded by the Great Magic Johnson, James Worthy, Kareem and coached by a very young maniacal high strung coach in Pat Riley. If KG goes on to doing something else and experiences very little success there, perhaps they'll look at KG in the same light as Byron Scott....

I saw a collective as the focus in Boston's most recent championship and not KG as the focal of that team. Even when Bird played, although being one of two capts., the Chief being the other, the Celtics operated as a collective team, as has always been the case, so I don't see your point in pointing out the signifigance of Byron. The Celtics and Lakers are one in the same...."its always a concerted collective team effort with them.

In addition to that, Byron has taken to teams to the finals so therefore you have, 3 rings, 2 finals as a coach vs. KG's 1 ring......lopsided don'tcha think?
