08:10 AM ET 10.10 | Dirk Nowitzki doesn't want to sound any alarms, but he also wants to be realistic when it comes to pain that flared up nearly as soon as camp opened on Sept. 29. For the second training camp in a row, his right knee is sore and swollen. Last season, it took nearly two months to get right. Now, it's back and Nowitzki would not duck the issue about what will happen if this situation lingers. "We'll see how it responds," he said. "But the longer we wait, obviously the worse it is. If we have to do something, it'd be better to do it quick. But we're still hopeful that this is a temporary thing." ... "To do something," means to go in and clean up whatever is inside Nowitzki's knee that is causing the inflammation.

Dallas would be doomed if Dirk is out for any length of time.

They aren't going anywhere anyway this year, so get him under the knife and get him fixed sooner than later.

From the looks of things, they aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

QUOTE(#18):

IMO... He was done w/ Olympics since 2009. All he did this summer was get married and then get ready for the long season. If it bothered him after the last game of the playoffs this year than he would have had surgery right away. Instead he was feeling fine and got ready early for the new season.

Yeah, I thought Germany did not do well enough in the 2011 qualifying to get to the Olympics this year. So, yeah, Dirk really just worked out this last summer.
