08:17 AM ET 10.10 | What exactly does Shawn Eichorst think about the current state of the Nebraska football machine? Sorry. If you were expecting a full evaluation of Bo Pelini's program, Eichorst wasn't going there. He said now was not the time nor the place for that assessment. ... The timing of Eichorst's introduction, just three days after arguably the worst game in Pelini's NU tenure, puts an interesting twist to the rest of the season. To say the least. Is Bo coaching for his job? No way. Eichorst appears to be measured and reserved. Not the kind of man to walk in the door and make that kind of move without examining a ton of evidence. But are these next six games Eichorst's first impression of Pelini Ball? Absolutely.

I didn't see the game, how bad did OSU spank em? Who's fault was it?

When someone hangs 63 points on you and you are supposed to be a defensive minded HC... well you are going to have some scrutiny.

If they don't win 2 of next 3, I can't see him staying if Nebraska is serious about being a contender in the Big 10. Next 3 are: @ Northwestern, vs. Michigan, and @ Michigan State.
Personnally, I have never been impressed by Pelini but he has gotten the Cornhuskers to respectability after the Callahan fiasco.
But respectability is not what Nebraska is / has been all about.

Eichorst did such a great job at Miami. Look at their great athletic programs. They have won two straight Capital One Cups... Wait that was UF.

NU's history was built on strong defenses and O-Lines that wear out defenses, opening holes for the likes of Tommie Frazier and Mike Rozier. What I've seen since the fateful day in October of 2001 has been mediocre O-Lines and defenses that, while good at times, always seemed a step behind and a bit clueless. As much as it pains me to say this, Pelini's best team and our best defense since '97 was brought in by Bill Callahan. Now, Callahan couldn't coach on the college level (Suh was a case in point), but he apparently could recruit. And when your best team was made up of players recruited by Bill, you have no business coaching at this level....

Coach Pelini appears to me as being a half-step away from 1 over-the-top,boiling,seething rage fit from an embarrassing departure.
