Lockout arrivals warned over KHL rules

08:24 AM ET 10.10 | Locked-out NHL stars won't be receiving any special treatment from officials -- in fact, they should show up knowing the rules before complaining about referees. The NHL declared a lockout last month when pay talks between owners and players foundered, causing players such as last season's MVP Evgeni Malkin and big-scoring forward Alex Ovechkin to come to the KHL. Both have since found themselves disagreeing with referees over on-ice incidents. "In every country there are certain nuances, however the player's obligation is to know the rules," referee supervisor Alexander Polyakov said. "You can find the KHL rules on the league website, by the way, so a player who's come to play in the KHL should go and read them."

They should get used to it, they aren't getting any special treatment from the owners here either.

Really? They are paid very handsomely and treated like royalty with first class facilities and amenities in just about every city that has has an NHL team.

If they think that the NHLers don't like the rules now...just wait until Crosby gets over there and hits the ice....

I think the article refers to Officials, not owners.

I will be more clear next time

so was the 'journalist' planning to give any actual examples, or is it ok to just make vague passing references to players whining about refs? How's this any more different than any player in any league, at any age, complaining about a call they don't like.
Is there anything objective in the complaints, or is it just players being players?
Seems pretty pointless.

...as a KHL related side-note, do any of you yanks have ESPN3? Up here a couple of the radio hosts are trying to make a big deal about the KHL 'eating into' the NHL's market share by having games played on ESPN3 (woooo 3!!!)...frankly I'm not too worried about people south of the border getting hooked on the K...but a few people want to make an issue about it. Just wondering if any of you have watched (or even have access to that channel)
I remember during the previous lock-out, Rogers SportsNet had bought the rights to Swedish and Finnish leagues...and they ended up nixing the deal, the hockey is borderline unwatchable and nobody was tuning in. If you can't get Canadians to tune into 'pro' hockey in mid february, then I have some pretty serious reservations about our american friends watching the K in mid-October....because, you know, there isn't NFL, NCAA, NBA and MLB playoffs to watch...
