12:28 PM ET 10.10 | Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III practiced with his team on Wednesday. Head coach Mike Shanahan said that the team will not be able to make an official determination about his status until Friday. The Vikings, however, are preparing as though RG3 will be on the field. Griffin himself has been telling teammates that he plans to play. 1500 ESPN in Minnesota reported Wednesday afternoon that the expectation there is for Washington to have RG3 on the field.

How much additional prep is needed, the guy is a rookie after all. They should be able to handle it.

Look at the teams that are consistently good. One thing you'll find with every one of them is preparation.

You would think that after a concussion, he would have to sit at least a week.

Thats why you need additional prep, because you dont have much film on him. It'd be different if they had at least a season's worth of tape to study. So they wanna make sure they are extra prepared for any possibility.

You and I would agree on that, but all he is required to do is leave the game and not come back. Once cleared by the doctors, he can practice and play the next game. By rule, as Ed Hochuli would say.
"Concussion" isn't a precisely-defined injury. He could recover completely the next day, and not suffer any ill effects, or he could never be the same. The tough one is where he seems fine a day or so later, but then develops more serious symptoms. And that's the reason he should sit for a week. But that's not the way it is.

RG will be on the field you can bet your ass on that. The Skins cannot afford for him not to be. When they come out and say 'mild' concussion you know he is already being considered to play.
