08:10 AM ET 10.11 | Word on whether the Red Sox will be able to snag John Farrell likely will come soon, but the team isn't waiting around to get to Plan B. Interviews could begin as soon as [Thursday], a team source said yesterday, and they will continue at least into next week. Tim Wallach, a former major league infielder and current Dodgers third base coach, has been contacted by the Red Sox, according to the source. Wallach is expected to be among a group of candidates for the vacancy created by the firing of Bobby Valentine last week. "Certainly I'm interested," Wallach said [Wednesday]. "This is what I've wanted to do and what I've been preparing to do for some time." Former big league catcher Brad Ausmus is also believed to be on the Red Sox' wish list.

The Red Sox should trade for Ozzie Guillen.

I'd rather see them hire a Tim Wallach, or a Brad Ausmus, as opposed to John Farrell.

With their current roster, it doesn't matter who they choose to manage the team.

Tops on the wish list: a time machine. A guy from Massachusetts might be running for President again but it is not 2004 and never will be again.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit, that as soon Boston hires a new manager, the Jays fire Farrell.

The current roster is not the roster they will bring to Spring Training.

After the last two years, that front office would have to be filled with dimwits not to change it.

Good point; right now the two teams are probably jockeying over compensation for Farrell, and if the Sox won't bite and move on then the Jays have to still deal with their managerial situation.

Not dimwits, just a massive ego in Larry Lucchino who wants to run all things.
Cherington is apparently having the same turf/responsibility issues with Lucchino that Theo had when he took his infamous "sabbatical" until John Henry brought him back with promises of autonomy for the baseball operatons.

I think Red Sox fans in general find Lucchino insufferable and intolerable.
