Valverde's issues possibly related to injury

08:13 AM ET 10.11 | For his part, Jose Valverde said players in his position are wired to move on from the kind of unhappy endings he authored Wednesday night, and, statistically, he's had games like it before. Mechanically, it was a different Valverde than any version we've seen in Detroit. His delivery looked pretty normal, certainly by today's standards. His mechanics to get into a position to deliver, though, looked unlike anything he had done here. ... Whether that had any part in his demise Wednesday is up for debate, no doubt. Even if it didn't, it just looked odd for him. For someone who has had back issues -- he missed time in May with a strained lower back -- it was something to pay attention.

"Tiger reliever + playoffs + injury" makes me think of Joel Zumaya getting tendinitis from playing Guitar Hero.

The A's kept me from losing faith in baseball with the Yanks win last night. Also was really bummed by the Nats and Reds losing.

It would be nice to see the A's play the Nats in the WS if I had to choose which teams I prefer.

wiseup: If valverde was hurting he should have said so.If that was so then he also hurt his team. If he was not hurt was he using this a an excuse. Or is it a writer looking for something to write to meet a deadline?

Okay I could live with the Giants, but St. Louis's participation is a travesty.

Sorry, I just have a hard time rooting for Tubby and Chubby, despite their hitting prowess.

Aside from those two, these leagues look like my old softball team. Betting half of these fatties couldn't hit and then run a triple
