01:56 PM ET 10.12 | The A-Rod marriage in New York seems to be on the rocks. After under-performing basically his entire career with the Yankees (namely in the postseason) the Yankees have finally said enough and have benched their $300 million man for the decisive Game 5 showdown with the Baltimore Orioles. A-Rod is hitting a mere .125 so far in the ALDS which is good for 63rd among active players in the playoffs thus far. To put that into perspective, A-Rod is being out hit by something called Pete Kozma and Seth Smith. But the question now becomes, with A-Rod being benched for a crucial playoff game, does this mean his time is finally up in the Bronx?

I wish. However, I can't see them releasing A-Rod outright when they still owe him > $100 mil.

It's about time. The guy looks lost at the plate (along with several other Yanks). But Chavez will be do a decent job in the field and at the plate.

It's the old question of "do you dance with who brung ya?" (Sparky Anderson), or do you go with who is hot now.

I've always thought the latter was the correct answer.

He has looked lost and terrible out there, especially at the plate. That being said, I don't know what this means for the NYY going forward. If they win tonight, how much do they play A-rod going forward? If they lose, do they try to cut ties or are they forced to eat the rest of his contract and years? The man hasn't looked the same since he got off the juice
