03:39 PM ET 10.12 | The competition to land the Big 12/SEC bowl pairing dubbed "the Champions Bowl" has whittled itself down to two cities, Jeremy Fowler reports, with the homes of the Cotton and Sugar standing the best chance. Atlanta and Houston were also reportedly in the race, but it looks like this one will come down to the two towns we'd all expected all along.

Since the SEC/B12 is the bowl committee, that is what they should do. It makes too much sense, so hell no, they ain't gonna do that.

Those towns already HAVE big bowl games. Give it to Houston! Excellent stadium (Reliant), geographically well located for both conferences, plenty of hotels and other attractions for visitors -- spread the love to a city where the bowl doesn't have to compete with another one.
