02:15 AM ET 10.13 | Jim Tracy tried about everything to stay afloat in 2012. Four man rotations, strict pitch counts, you name it. Regardless, at the end of the year, he was out as Rockies manager. Now, it's time to line up candidates to take over and Jason Giambi is gaining traction as one of those candidates. The Rockies may be in position to take an unusual route to filling the vacancy, and here's the case why.

If Giambi can't pitch, I don't think it will matter who the manager is.

wiseup : Giambi is the best the rockies can come up with? In all fairness give him an interview, but don't rush sining a manager right away. See who becomes available.

the rockies should get a new hitting coach, BARRY BONDS could be the right element in that position!!!

October 13, 2012  05:49 PM ET

bringing in a new hitting coach its a part of the new plan in denver, after replacing every coach and with a new manager things could become more accurate plus the franchise most stop trading every player that could become a star!!!

Wally Backman Baby!!!

It doesn't matter who is the manager in Denver because they are years behind LA and SF in the division.

Too funny, because of the success of first time managers without previous manager experience like Robin Ventura and Mike Matheny, now every team and their brother that is looking for a new manager is going after that trend. See if it rubs off on them. Just like when it was fashionable to hire a twenty-something year old General Manager.
