09:28 AM ET 10.13 | Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki put in a full practice Friday after getting his swollen right knee drained for the second time in recent weeks. Though he seemed more optimistic about the knee than he did during the Mavericks' recent trip to Germany and Spain, he stopped well short of ruling out the eventual need for arthroscopic surgery. "I really don't know why the swelling keeps coming back," he said. "I can't really finger-point it. Maybe there's something floating in there that shouldn't be floating in there. We'll only know that for sure if we do a scope, but as for now, we haven't (planned surgery). I'm just going to keep working this weekend and see how the knee responds. If the swelling keeps coming back, I'm not going to play on a swollen knee all season," he said. "If it comes back a couple more times, then we definitely have to look at something else." "Something else" obviously would be surgery.

QUOTE(#3):

First Cuban breaks up a championship team. Then the Mavericks sit on their thumbs for a whole year hoping a serious knee injury will just go away. The Mavs have morphed into one of the dumbest teams in the league. Is Cuban distracted with too many other ventures or something? Maybe trying to get his HDNet off the ground still?Stupid is as stupid does.....Bro.

LOL...says the magic fan...;P

QUOTE(#11):

we'll see what the dallas faithful have to say....but this is similar to bynum not getting his knee fixed-up during the summer, instead he was at a soccer gameSome of these players- and I put it also on ownership and management- don't understand that they are getting paid to play....that the off-season, though they deserve personal time- is the time to GET FIXED so they can be right for the start of the next season- otherwise...why should they get paid>?I'm wondering if this might be dirks way of getting back at cubes for screwing his chance at repeating and getting another ring

what has Dirk missed so far? Nothing....

I agree if it was bad maybe he should have gotten it fixed but maybe its just the guy is 34 going into his 15 year and tweaked it in practice and they are waiting to see what happens....

I figured a Mav fan would try and change the topic. This is a Mavs thread and Cuban is doing really stupid things.

by not overpaying for talent? Tyson, JJ, and Caron?

Or not putting all his eggs in the D-will basket bc just D-will and Dirk arent winning a championship....

Just wondering..

QUOTE(#16):

It's been ongoing for a year now. He had to miss games last year because of this same knee. That's why I think it was dumb to wait.

No not really....MAybe the experts which arent you and i saw there were no structual damage and figured rest might work instead of having a surgery not needed....I just think they are being a little more coy about it than they are leading on... I mean this is a face of a franchise and a huge 20+ million dollar player...
