09:33 AM ET 10.13 | There are rumors swirling around the LSU Tigers football program that senior offensive tackle Alex Hurst may have quit the football team. Earlier in the week, head coach Les Miles hinted that the team could be without Hurst for their big SEC clash against the South Carolina Gamecocks today but he would not go into detail. "Alex had kind of a nick and some issues that are personal to him and has missed some time," Miles said. "We don't expect that he will miss the back end of the week." Losing Hurst would just be the latest blow to an offensive line that has lost first-round draft prosepct Chris Faulk to the season with a knee injury. Starting right guard Josh Williams is also questionable with a head injury that he suffered last week against the Florida Gators. As the week has gone on, the rumors have gained steam that Hurst quit the team. LSU beat writer Jim Kleinpeter of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reiterated the rumor in a chat that took place Friday. If Hurtz did in fact quit the team, senior Josh Dworaczyk would get the start. "The rumor is he quit the team, but he's a guy who doesn't talk much to anybody, teammates included," Kleinpeter said.

A mistake on Hurst's part as he is a senior. Draft analysis will show him as a quitter. He may have lost his starting job due to poor performance but could still have a chance to return to the field and redeem himself with the injuries sustained in the O-line so far. The freshmen have come through.
Was not encouraged going into the SC game but the O-line they put together came through and LSU ran roughshod over the Camecocks.
